Senior Consultant – Endoscopy Subject Matter Expert

Location: Client site – the role will require regular weekly travel/overnight stays

Role Summary
Working alongside Delivery and Workstream Leads across engagements to help ensure the quality and impact of Four Eyes Insight Endoscopy productivity programmes. To achieve this through effective clinical observation and engagement, the application of in-depth knowledge of operational best practice and the ongoing coaching and development of internal (FEI) and client teams. You will also be expected to contribute to the evolution of product offerings and the development of internal consulting staff.

Required Skills and Experience

Role Specific

  • – Experience of managing a large endoscopy unit and having implemented/led a successful improvement programme to improve productivity
  • – Expert understanding of endoscopy booking systems, list scheduling in relation to JAG standards
  • – Familiar with staffing requirements and staffing skill level for endoscopy (including General Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and nurse endoscopists)
  • – Ability to build strong relationships with and influence clinical and booking teams to drive operational efficiencies
  • – Ability to influence clinical teams from both endoscopy and surgical specialties
  • – Demonstrable understanding of patient flow through an endoscopy service from admission to discharge
  • – Experience of reducing reliance on outsourced and WLI activity through improved productivity in funded sessions
  • – Experience of 6-4-2 planning principles specific to endoscopy and thorough understanding of end to end endoscopy patient booking processes



  • – Analysis and problem solving – must have the analytical capability to translate personal experience and knowledge into approaches and solutions to client problems. Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • – Hospital Systems – Knowledge and experience of using a variety of IT systems deployed to book patients into theatre setting e.g. Cerner Millenium, Bluespier etc
  • – Project management – able to work within formal project management disciplines, excellent attention to detail to ensure a high quality of workstream outputs and capable of effective change management and driving behavioural change
  • – Communication – aptitude to engage and influence clients while ensuring clarity and impact, in both verbal and written communication i.e. from presenting to report writing
  • – Effective teamwork – able to work effectively as part of a team and, on occasions, lead a small team, knowing when and how to contribute specialist input for maximum impact
  • – Coaching & Mentoring – Ability to build both internal and external capability in your field of expertise. Use of verbal and non-verbal mediums to build skills and competence
  • – Stakeholder Management – capable of building strong, expertise and trust-based relationships with clients
  • – Commercial knowledge – aware of project budget and profitability goals


Years of experience:

5-10 years operational or clinical management experience within the health service or management consultancy within the healthcare sector with 1-2 years’ experience ofendoscopy service/general management

Please note this role requires regular travel and working away from home on a weekly basis is expected/required.
