Senior Consultant – Outpatients Subject Matter Expert

Role Summary
Working alongside Delivery and Workstream Leads across engagements to help ensure the quality and impact of Four Eyes Insight Outpatients productivity programmes. To achieve this through effective clinical observation and engagement, the application of in-depth knowledge of operational best practice and the ongoing coaching and development of internal and client teams. You will also be expected to contribute to the evolution of internal offerings and the development of internal consulting staff.

Required Skills and Experience

Role Specific

  • – Operational or clinical experience of the non-admitted pathway; an in depth of knowledge of the outpatient pathway
  • – Awareness of best practice in Outpatients (booking processes, patient letters and communication methods e.g., ERS, advice & guidance, appointment reminders, referral triage, patient waiting areas) and the national agenda including PIFU, demand management, virtual clinics etc
  • – Familiar with RTT rules and the concept of slot utilisation and it’s monitoring and improvement
  • – Evidence of building strong, trust-based relationships with clinicians and conveying credibility using detailed subject matter knowledge. Able to influence clinical, specialty and booking teams to drive operational efficiencies
  • – Examples of delivery around service transformation/productivity improvement or change management
  • – The ability to present complex concepts to wide and varied audiences
  • – Expert abilities in data analysis relating to outpatients; able to create insight and identify opportunities from dashboards and use this to drive change

General

  • – Analysis and problem solving – must have the analytical capability to translate personal experience and knowledge into approaches and solutions to client problems. Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • – Hospital Systems – Knowledge and experience of using a variety of IT systems
  • – Project management – able to work within formal project management disciplines, excellent attention to detail to ensure a high quality of workstream outputs and capable of effective change management and driving behavioural change
  • – Communication – aptitude to engage and influence clients while ensuring clarity and impact, in both verbal and written communication i.e. from presenting to report writing
  • – Effective teamwork – able to work effectively as part of a team and, on occasions, lead a small team, knowing when and how to contribute specialist input for maximum impact
  • – Coaching & Mentoring – Ability to build both internal and external capability in your field of expertise. Use of verbal and non-verbal mediums to build skills and competence
  • – Stakeholder Management – capable of building strong, expertise and trust-based relationships with clients
  • – Commercial knowledge – aware of project budget and profitability goals

Years of experience:

5-10 years operational management experience within the health service or management consultancy within the healthcare sector
